Bicycle Lovers Push for Central Florida Loop - Genesis Helps

The Orlando Sentinel had an article on June 6th, 2012 discussing effort that the Florida Greenways and Trails Foundation ( has undertaken the task of connecting the trails in central Florida to create a 250-mile loop to be caleld the Heart of Florida Greenway Loop:

The new contiguous loop will be a boon  to ecotourism and businesses in the region in addition to the direct benefits to the native biking community.

The Florida Greenways & Trails Foundation is Florida's chief advocacy organization for non-motorized trails. The Foundation supports greater use of trails for recreation, for fitness and health, for reducing carbon emissions, for attracting leisure travelers, for building community, for beautification, and for a larger role in evolving multi-modal transportation policy.  Their web site can be found at
