Genesis Selected for Florida LambdaRail Expansion to Bay County

Posted on 2012-09-18 by Craig H. Anderson

Genesis has been selected to assist with expansion of the network into Bay County.  The Florida LambdaRail, a regional network, is a public-private partnership which maintains a high speed broadband fiber optic network backbone throughout the state, connecting universities, military bases and research facilities in Pensacola, Jacksonville and Miami.  It is a component of the system that currently includes 13 regional networks in 21 different states throughout the country.

Florida LambdaRail Engineering Study

Bay County received a grant from Enterprise Florida for the purpose of developing and implementing the expansion of the LambdaRail fiber optic network to serve the educational institutions, hospital facilities and military bases that exist in Bay County.

Genesis will prepare a Needs Assessment to identify potential stakeholders and funding sources for construction; complete a Conceptual Design for the conduit route and network devices; develop an Implementation Plan based on cost estimates and available funding; and present the findings in a series of stakeholder and public forums. Tracy Forester, with World Fiber Technologies, Inc. will provide support to Genesis on this project as an independent contractor.
